Erie Canal with Michael Keene

Michael Keene is an author and frequent guest speaker at many New York libraries and historical societies. Now he's  produced a new program, “The Psychic Highway: How the Erie Canal Changed America”. A few years ago he published a book by that same title.

The Erie canal is intimately intertwined with historical, religious, and social issues of our state. Candor Free Library is sponsoring this program, along with many other libraries.

The program will be a live presentation premiering on YouTube Premier.

 Thursday, April 1, 2021 ~  11 am  Eastern time.

The program is free, but registration required so you can get a link to the presentation. To register, go to http://michaeltkeene.com/registration/

—Excerpt from “The Psychic Highway”—

It delivered people to important places for important reasons, like Elizabeth Cady Stanton to Seneca Falls for history’s first women’s convention, to Rochester to meet and support abolitionists Frederick Douglas and Harriet Tubman, to witness the Fox Sisters summon sprits, or maybe people on the temperance bandwagon hurrying to the Burned Over District so Charles Finney could save their souls”.
