Writing, Coffee, and Conversation @ the Library

If you like to write - whether it's letters to the editor, memoir, romance, poetry, or picture books - Candor's got a space for you. Our WRITE NOW writing group meets every month, on the first Wednesday, from 10 am - noon. This is where writers gather to to learn more about the craft of writing, share ideas, support each others work, offer positive critiques, and catch up with news. The next WRITE NOW meeting happens Wednesday, March 4. Bring your work-in-progress.

For the past month, local writers have been meeting on Wednesdays for "write-ins". Perhaps you've noticed people busy writing in notebooks or tapping on their laptops. The write-ins provide energy and encouragement for writers to get their words on the page. The last write-in of CaFeWriMo (Cabin Fever Writing Month) is Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 2 - 4 pm. So if you've been procrastinating at getting that chapter/poem/outline done, join us. Chocolate provided (always!).

Coffee and Conversation @ the Library!
If you had dropped by the library on a recent Thursday morning, you would have found the local coffee klatch sharing conversation and mugs of coffee and tea. From 10 - 11:30 am you are invited to drop in and set a spell at the round tables by the newspaper rack.

Artful Sundays @ the Library

There are two opportunities for exploring art this month at Candor Free Library.

Sunday, February 16 ~ ArtSplash! happens from 1-3 pm. The medium: collage. Participants can choose to make three mini-collages: a tissue paper collage, something inspired by architecture, and a freestyle. Johanna will bring lots of fun collage papers, and people can make their own pattern papers for use in collages. The class is a  hands-on art exploration with gentle guidance. Emerging artists from 8 to 108 are welcome to come, though children younger than 12 need to be accompanied by an adult.  The class is free and materials are provided. Space is limited to 15 participants, so please call 659-7375 to register.

Sunday, February 23 ~ Painting with Sandy for Adults begins at 1:30 pm. If you've been wanting to splash paint on canvas, this class is for you. The theme is "deer on a snowy night". There is a $15 fee to cover materials (canvas and acrylic paints). Space is limited to 15, so call the library at 607-659-7258 to register.
