Painting @ the Library this Weekend!

Feeling the urge to be creative? Then head to the library this weekend, because we've got FREE art happening both days.

On Saturday, September 15 drop by to Paint with Sandy. The painting class begins at 10 am and is aimed at kids from 9 to 90. As in past classes, Sandy will have a theme to inspire your work.

Space is limited, so please make sure you register by Friday (Sept. 14). You can register by calling the Library at 659-7258 or by calling Sandy at 659-4166. Free; sponsored by BOOKS program.

On Sunday afternoon, September 16 head down for ArtSplash! with Johanna. This month we'll explore professional art markers and drawing people in motion. You'll also draw some characters. These are the same sort of markers that professional cartoonists use. Feel free to bring an illustration or picture for inspiration. The class is open to kids from 8 to 108, though children younger than 12 will need to be accompanied by an adult. There are 15 spaces open for this class, so please register. Fall @ the Library: Lego Club, Story Hour, Art Classes

Summer Reading has come to a close – but never fear! There’s plenty to do at the library this fall ~ and it's free.

Lego Club resumes on Tuesday, September 11at its regular time, from 5 – 7 pm. Every week there’s a new construction challenge. It might be a tower, a bridge, a maze. Open to all. Sponsored by the BOOKS Program and Senator Akshar.

Story Hour resumes on Tuesday, September 11 at 10:15 am. It’s called story hour, but there’s so much more going on that makes this a true opportunity for early childhood literacy. Afterwards, head upstairs to check out books or one of the preschool backpacks.

Art Classes with Johanna begin on Sunday, September 16 at 1 pm, and will continue on the third Sunday of each month through February. Each month there’s a different topic. This month’s media is art markers and the topic is “people in motion”.

“These are the same kinds of markers that a lot of comic book and graphic novel illustrators use,” says Johanna. After experimenting with the professional grade media, Johanna will have students draw a favorite character. Feel free to bring an illustration or photo you want to use as inspiration. Art classes are open to emerging artists of all ages, from 8 to 108, though children younger than 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. There are 15 spaces available for the September 16 workshop, so please register ahead of time by calling Johanna at 607-659-7375.  Sponsored by FLLS Outreach mini-grant.

Candor Free Library is located at 2 Bank Street just behind the Village Hall. Got questions? Call the library.
