Théâtre de la Mode ~ high fashion dolls on display

Rose Bish has recreated the Théâtre de la Mode. No, it does not have anything to do with ice cream. The dolls she's has put on exhibit in our library are replicas of fashion mannequins from 1945-1946.

After World War II, the Paris fashion designers banded together to create a show. Instead of models and runways, the top fashion designers created a touring exhibit of mannequins that were about 1/3 the size of human models. They called their traveling exhibit the Théâtre de la Mode (Theatre of Fashion). Their goal was to raise funds for war survivors and to help revive the French fashion industry.

ART @ the Library ~ Nov. 9 & 17

Get your art smock and come down to the library for some painting classes!

Join us on Saturday November 9 to Paint with Sandy at 1:30 pm. This is your chance to splash paint on canvas. This November, the theme is the Bald Eagles that live around us.  Class is free and materials are provided.  Space is limited to 14 participants, so please register ahead of time by calling the Library.

On Sunday, November 17, Johanna Husband is leading the ArtSplash! workshop, with a focus on nature. Class begins at 1 pm. ArtSplash is a hands-on art exploration with gentle guidance. Emerging artists from 8 to 108 are welcome to come, though children younger than 12 need to be accompanied by an adult.  The class is free and materials are provided. Space is limited to 15 participants, so please call 659-7375 to register.

On Sunday, October 27 Heidy Gil will teach another conversational Spanish lesson from 2 to 4 pm. The class is open to children and adults and is free.
