Seeds @ the Library!

If you are looking for some organic seeds, why not check out what the SEED Library has? It's conveniently located right on the circulation desk. There are packets of all kinds of seeds, from tomatoes to peppers, melons, arugula, and more.

This is a great opportunity to take home a few seeds of a new variety without having to buy an entire packet. I wanted to try some melons, so Linda showed me how to fold a handy dandy seed envelope (out of origami paper). That way I could bring home half a dozen seeds that I knew I would plant.

ArtSplash! this Sunday

On Sunday, April 15 Candor Free Library hosts Art Splash! from 1-3 p.m. The workshop is presented by local artist Johanna Husband, and this month will focus on pastel landscapes. If you want, you may bring your own photo of a lovely landscape to draw. ArtSplash is a fun art space for all ages from 8 to 108, though children under 12 will need to be accompanied by an adult.  To register, call 607-659-7375 or contact the library at 607-659-7258.  $5 fee covers materials.

Patron Appreciation Day – April 12

On Thursday, April 12, Candor Free Library is hosting a Patron Appreciation Day.

Stop by for cookies and refreshments!

Get fines waived for overdue items belonging to any Tioga County library that are returned on that day. And check out the new books added to the collection.

This revelry is part of National Library Week, an annual celebration of the life-changing work of libraries, librarians and library workers. Libraries are more than places to borrow books or study—they’re also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies and develop their skills and passions. Our library provides e-books, language learning tools, databases, and more.

 On Thursday, the library will be open from 10 am-12 noon, 2-5 pm, and 6-8 pm.

Doodles, Painting, and Landscapes @ the Library

Our library is a hopping place. So much more than books - and the next couple of weeks there will be lots of art opportunities.

If you love to doodle, join us at the library this Saturday, April 7  for “Zentangles in the Round.” No experience is necessary to draw these fun mandalas that are Zentangles in a circle. The free workshop begins at 2 p.m. and is open to all ages.   Please register by calling the library at 659-7258. Workshop is free, sponsored by the BOOKS Program and Senator Akshar.

If painting is your thing, then join us on Sunday, April 8 for “Paint with Sandy.” The class goes from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and is suited for ages 9 and older. Class size is limited to 14 students.
