Readers of all ages – from “just beginning” through high school – are encouraged to explore new books and relax with favorite stories. There will be weekly prizes and a chance to win a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.
The library is also hosting a summer filled with family-friendly events. Come to one or come to all!
Monday, July 15 ~ Kopernik Planetarium is bringing their Portable Planetarium! Explore the stars rain or shine. Program begins at 6:30 pm and will be held at the Congregational Church next to the library.
Saturday, July 27 ~ Space Camp! Space Camp is a mix of science and astronaut training, with a touch of Star Wars. Astronauts-in-training will make light sabers, space helmets and constellation flashlights, and take home a Universe of stories t-shirt. Program begins at 1 pm.
Tuesday, July 30 ~ Dan the Snake Man will be back with his popular program. This is a unique opportunity to experience many species of exotic reptiles. The audience is invited to interact with the animals on an up-close and personal level; viewing, touching, and asking questions are highly encouraged. Program begins at 6:30 pm.
Tuesday, August 6 ~ Moreland the Magician will bring his “Universe of Stories” show blending magic, puppetry, comedy, and audience participation while celebrating the fun of reading! There will be a bonus 10 minute magic workshop after the show! Program starts at 6:30 pm.
Wednesday, August 21 ~ Join Zoe Ponterio from Cornell SPIF (Spacecraft Planetary Imaging Facility) for a fun presentation and hands-on activities related to planetary science and Solar System exploration. Program is in the evening, time to be determined.
Also, the Summer Lego Club is happening on Thursday evenings, beginning July 11.
