Readers of all ages – from “just beginning” through high school – are encouraged to explore new books and relax with favorite stories. There will be weekly prizes and a chance to win a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.
The library is also hosting a summer filled with family-friendly events. Come to one or come to all!
Monday, July 15 ~ Kopernik Planetarium is bringing their Portable Planetarium! Explore the stars rain or shine. Program begins at 6:30 pm and will be held at the Congregational Church next to the library.
Saturday, July 27 ~ Space Camp! Space Camp is a mix of science and astronaut training, with a touch of Star Wars. Astronauts-in-training will make light sabers, space helmets and constellation flashlights, and take home a Universe of stories t-shirt. Program begins at 1 pm.Tuesday, July 30 ~ Dan the Snake Man will be back with his popular program. This is a unique opportunity to experience many species of exotic reptiles. The audience is invited to interact with the animals on an up-close and personal level; viewing, touching, and asking questions are highly encouraged. Program begins at 6:30 pm.
Tuesday, August 6 ~ Moreland the Magician will bring his “Universe of Stories” show blending magic, puppetry, comedy, and audience participation while celebrating the fun of reading! There will be a bonus 10 minute magic workshop after the show! Program starts at 6:30 pm.
Wednesday, August 21 ~ Join Zoe Ponterio from Cornell SPIF (Spacecraft Planetary Imaging Facility) for a fun presentation and hands-on activities related to planetary science and Solar System exploration. Program is in the evening, time to be determined.
