Art Weekend Dec 15 & 16

Are you looking for an opportunity to stretch your imagination? Maybe splash paint on canvas or ink on a page?

Candor Free Library has two fun arts workshops happening next weekend.
On Saturday, December 15 there's "Painting with Sandy". For those who attended November's workshop, this will be an opportunity to work on a second panel for a holiday-themed painting. Or to explore another aspect of the theme, "not a creature was stirring".

Painting with Sandy runs from 1:30-3 pm. The workshop is FREE - call or drop by the library to register. Funding through the BOOKS Program and Senator Akshar.

For those seeking a dash of hands-on science with their art experience, on Sunday, December 16 Johanna is leading an ArtSplash! workshop. Once again, we'll be working with alcohol inks on yupo paper - this time with an eye to creating holiday cards. People in last month's class discovered that alcohol inks react much differently than other media, and yupo paper has some interesting properties. Some of the questions explored include:

  • how do alcohol inks behave on a non-absorbent surface?
  • what happens if you add a second layer?
  • can you do a ink-water wash?
  • do inks create boundaries?
  • what happens if you paint light colors over dark?
ArtSplash! with Johanna runs from 1-3 pm. The workshop is FREE. There is a class limit so call Johanna at 659-7375 to register. Funding thanks to FLLS Outreach mini-grant.
