Libraries Rock! Summer Reading and Programs


Summer reading starts Monday July 9 and continues for six weeks through August 18. This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock” so it’s all up to you whether you wear tie-dyed Ts and bellbottoms, or grab a rock hammer and field guide. Either way, head on down to the library to sign up for summer reading because books are cool and there are tons of prizes!

Readers of all ages – from “just beginning” through high school – are encouraged to explore new books and relax with favorite stories. Weekly prizes include geodes and crystal-growing kits. Fill out tickets to enter the end-of-summer drawing for a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.

The library is also hosting a series of family-friendly events. 

Saturday, July 14 join us for Bones and Stones at 1 p.m. Rock-ologists of all ages can make a fossil and explore geology through hands-on activities and art. free

Sunday, July 15 is ArtSplash from 1-3 p.m.with local artist Johanna. Explore art lettering. $5 fee covers all materials.

Thursday, July 19 Captain Jack Sparrow will visit the library from 6-7 p.m. for a show filled with action and fun. The program is rated “Arrr” and is suitable for kids and adults of all ages. free

Tuesday, July 24 is the Didgeridoo Down Under show at 6:30. The high-energy, Australia-themed show combines music, culture, science, comedy, character building and audience participation. free

Wednesday, August 8 is Dan the Snake Man. The show features exotic reptiles you can meet up-close and personal and starts at 6:30 p.m. free
